One of the things I love most about living on an island are the colors - blue is never just blue. It changes with the weather, the season, the tide, and the light. The ocean that appears deep cobalt in the morning may shimmer with brighter, lighter tones by afternoon. The line where the sky meets the water is constantly shifting, creating new combinations of color that reveal themselves only when you take the time to notice.

Blue on Blue is those summer days when every direction seems filled with shades of blue. Looking out across the harbor, it can be difficult to tell where the water ends and the sky begins. Layers of color blend together, creating a landscape that feels both expansive and comforting at the same time.

Belfast Arts in the Park
One of my favorite summer traditions is returning to Belfast Arts in the Park, and this year I'll be back on June 27 and 28 at Booth 113. In addition to bringing a studio full of color, I'll be debuting a special event color called Belfast Blue, inspired by the harbor and the vibrant creative energy that makes this festival so much fun. If you're in the area, I'd love to see you there and share what's new from the studio.

Open Studios in July
For years, my storefront and studio occupied the same space, and visitors could easily see where the work was made. Now that the studio has moved home, I wanted to create a way for people to reconnect with the making side of the business. Beginning in July, I'll be opening the studio every other Wednesday from 5–6 PM for informal visits. Stop by, take a look around, ask questions, and see where the colors, tools, kilns, and ideas come together. I hope you'll join me.

Gather Your Group and Play with Color

Looking for a fun afternoon with friends and family? This summer, I'm offering private glass workshops for groups of 5 to 10 people in my studio on Vinalhaven.

You gather the group, we'll pick a day, and I'll take care of the rest.

Workshops run approximately two hours, typically from 4:30–6:30 PM, and each participant will create two colorful glass tiles using a wide assortment of glass colors and materials. No experience is necessary. If you can arrange colorful pieces on a table, you can do this.

The cost is $100 per person, and all materials are included. After the workshop, I'll fire your creations in the kiln and prepare them for pickup.

One of my favorite parts of teaching is seeing what happens when people are given permission to play. Every workshop is different, every project is unique, and there is always plenty of laughter along the way.

Barn Chronicles

Life with a pony in her thirties means paying attention to the little things. Lately, Pretty hasn't been eating as well as I would like, and while she still spends plenty of time looking for ways to get through a fence and onto greener grass, I've been concerned enough to schedule a vet visit for Friday.

The plan is to give her a thorough checkup, including a close look at her teeth, which are often the culprit when older horses begin to struggle with their meals. Caring for aging animals comes with its share of worries, but it also deepens my appreciation for every day we have together. I'll keep my fingers crossed for good news and report back next week.

As we move into summer, I find myself surrounded by blue wherever I look. Blue on Blue is the joy, light, and simplicity this season brings. If this color speaks to you, I invite you to explore the collection and find the piece that feels most like your own summer story.
