Summer has officially found its stride.

The days seem to fill themselves before I've even finished my coffee, and somehow there is always one more thing worth saying yes to. This week I'm introducing Belfast Blue, a bright, joyful color inspired by blue skies, sparkling harbor water, and one of Maine's most creative coastal communities. I created it especially for Belfast Arts in the Park, and after spending the weekend surrounded by artists, visitors, and plenty of sunshine, it feels like the perfect color to share this week.

The Belfast Blue Rivière is a celebration of color, light, and the simple pleasure of wearing something that makes you feel extraordinary. A continuous strand of luminous fused dichroic glass stones wraps gracefully around the neckline, each one hand-cut, kiln-fired, and finished in my Vinalhaven studio. Together they create a ribbon of brilliant blue that shifts from bright turquoise to rich sapphire as it catches the light.

First Friday

This Friday marks something brand new.

New Era Gallery and WindHorse Arts are teaming up for our very first First Friday, and we're hoping it becomes a fun new summer tradition. We will stay open a little later, giving you extra time to wander through town, browse beautiful handmade work, and enjoy a relaxed summer evening.

Open Studios in July
My first Open Studio of the summer is tonight, and I'd love to have you stop by.

If you've ever wondered how a sheet of glass becomes a piece of jewelry, this is your chance to peek behind the curtain. The studio will be open for questions, conversation, and a look at the tools, kilns, and colorful stacks of glass that eventually become the jewelry in the gallery.

There's no schedule to follow and no presentation to sit through. Just come by, take a look around, and enjoy the creative space

Arts in the Park

What a fun weekend!

Arts in the Park is always filled with great conversations, returning customers, curious first-time visitors, and the kind of discoveries that make art festivals special. Thank you to everyone who stopped by, whether you purchased a piece, signed up for the newsletter, or simply spent a few minutes talking about color, glass, and life on the island.

Weekends like these look effortless from the outside, but they take a surprising amount of planning, packing, setting up, taking down, and hauling everything home again. I certainly couldn't do it alone, and I'm incredibly grateful for everyone who lends a hand before, during, and after the show. It truly takes a team to keep a small business moving.

Gather Your Group and Play with Color

Looking for a fun afternoon with friends and family? This summer, I'm offering private glass workshops for groups of 5 to 10 people in my studio on Vinalhaven.

You gather the group, we'll pick a day, and I'll take care of the rest.

Workshops run approximately two hours, typically from 4:30–6:30 PM, and each participant will create two colorful glass tiles using a wide assortment of glass colors and materials. No experience is necessary. If you can arrange colorful pieces on a table, you can do this.

The cost is $100 per person, and all materials are included. After the workshop, I'll fire your creations in the kiln and prepare them for pickup.

One of my favorite parts of teaching is seeing what happens when people are given permission to play. Every workshop is different, every project is unique, and there is always plenty of laughter along the way.

After a weekend of hauling displays, talking with wonderful customers, driving back and forth to Belfast, and unpacking everything once again, I was running on fumes and the Basin was exactly what I needed.

A float in calm water beneath blue skies reminded me why I love living here. Twenty minutes in the ocean has an amazing way of clearing my head, easing tired muscles, and making the week's to-do list feel a little less daunting.

A heartfelt thank you to the Vinalhaven Land Trust for the work they do to protect these special places. It's easy to take them for granted until you realize how much they add to our lives. I know my own days are better because they're here.

Returning Light Gives Back

One of the things I love about running a small business is having the opportunity to support organizations that are making a real difference in our communities.

If you've been following my weekly Color Drops, you may remember Returning Light, a luminous blend of greens, golds, and shifting light inspired by those moments when hope begins to find its way back in. It felt like a color of resilience, renewal, and fresh beginnings, which is why it seemed like the perfect choice to support this year's Into the Light! Yellow Festival, a statewide fundraiser benefiting Finding Our Voices.

Throughout the month of July, I'll be donating a portion of every Returning Light purchase to help support the organization's work with Maine women and children affected by domestic abuse. Their mission is to provide resources, advocacy, and hope while bringing this important issue into the light.

When I created Returning Light, I couldn't have imagined all the places it might travel or the stories it might become part of. This July, every piece sold will carry a little more meaning, helping shine a light where it's needed most.
