Burnished
Burnished is the red of banked embers and iron warmed through. A deep, glowing garnet layered with copper shimmer, sealed inside each fused dichroic glass stone and brought to life in the kiln.
This color was inspired by late winter on Vinalhaven. The woodstove still working hard. The granite dark and damp along the shoreline. That rare February afternoon when the sun lowers just enough to catch something metallic in the air and everything feels quietly illuminated. Burnished holds that moment. Not flashy. Not fleeting. Just steady heat gathering strength.
It’s the bridge between seasons. The last stretch of winter and the first subtle promise of March. Grounded, confident, and rich with depth, it anchors the lighter colors to come.
Each piece in Burnished is part of a limited color run. When the glass is gone, the name is retired, marking this particular turn of the season in color.
