From my studio on Vinalhaven Island, Maine, I've always believed a small business can be more than a place to make and sell beautiful things. Through special color releases and fundraising partnerships, I've been able to support organizations that strengthen our communities and make a positive difference in people's lives.

Returning Light Gives Back
Some colors become more than beautiful. They begin with inspiration, but sometimes they go on to tell a bigger story. Returning Light was created as part of my weekly Color Drop collection. Layers of luminous green, gold, and shifting dichroic glass come together in a color that reminds me of those quiet moments when hope begins to return. It speaks to resilience, healing, and the simple truth that even after difficult seasons, light finds its way back.
This July, Returning Light takes on an even deeper meaning. I'm honored to partner with Finding Our Voices as part of the Into the Light! Yellow Festival, a statewide fundraiser supporting Maine women and children affected by domestic abuse.
Throughout the month of July, a portion of every Returning Light purchase will be donated to help support Finding Our Voices and their extraordinary work providing advocacy, resources, education, and hope for survivors throughout Maine.
Why Returning Light?
Every Color Drop begins with color. Only later does its story reveal itself. When I created Returning Light, I was thinking about the first signs of spring, the way sunlight slowly returns after a long winter, and the feeling that brighter days are ahead. As I learned more about the Into the Light Festival, it became clear that this color already carried the message I hoped to share. Returning Light is a reminder that healing is possible, that hope can grow quietly over time, and that none of us has to find our way alone.
About Finding Our Voices
Finding Our Voices is a Maine nonprofit dedicated to breaking the silence surrounding domestic abuse. Through advocacy, education, storytelling, and direct support, the organization helps survivors find safety, community, and the confidence to build new lives. Their work reminds us that bringing difficult experiences into the light is often the first step toward healing. I am grateful for the opportunity to support their mission through this year's fundraiser.

Color Out Loud was inspired by Pride and the simple, powerful act of living openly in the world. Bright blue forms the foundation, while flashes of pink, lavender, silver, and green appear and disappear as the glass catches the light. Like people, it is never just one thing.
Living on an island, I've spent countless hours watching light move across the harbor. What appears blue one moment becomes silver, violet, or green the next. The beauty isn't found in choosing a single color. It's found in watching them interact, overlap, and transform one another.
Working with glass for more than twenty-five years has taught me that color is never just color. Color carries emotion. It can lift our spirits, bring back memories, mark important moments, and help us express something about ourselves without saying a word. The colors we choose to wear often reflect how we see ourselves or how we hope to move through the world.
perhaps that’s one of the reasons the rainbow became such a powerful symbol of Pride. No single color tells the whole story. Each brings something unique, and together they create something more vibrant than any one color could achieve alone. The rainbow celebrates diversity, individuality, and the idea that there is beauty in making space for many different experiences, identities, and voices.
That same spirit lives at the heart of Color Out Loud.
This special collection celebrates authenticity, courage, joy, and belonging. It honors the people who have chosen to live openly, those who are still finding their way, and the communities that create spaces where everyone is welcomed and valued for exactly who they are.
It reminds me that people are not meant to fit neatly into categories. We are layered, complex, and always growing.
