Beneath the towering spruce and fir trees lies a world that rewards anyone willing to slow down. Moss, lichen, weathered stone, tiny seedlings, and unexpected flashes of color weave together into a rich tapestry known as the understory.
Designed by Elaine Crossman, Understory celebrates that hidden landscape. Twenty-one handcrafted glass stones come together in an ever-changing rhythm of color, anchored by the luminous greens and warm golden glow of Gilded Moss. Soft seafoam, deep evergreen, weathered bronze, hints of lavender, and bright woodland greens create a bracelet that feels discovered rather than designed.
Wrapped twice around your wrist, each turn reveals a different story. No single stone takes center stage. Instead, the colors create a quiet rhythm that invites your eye to wander, finding something new each time you wear it.
Handcrafted with fused dichroic glass and sterling silver, Understory is a celebration of the quiet beauty found beneath our feet, where the smallest details often become the most unforgettable.
Handcrafted by Alison Thibault at WindHorse Arts on Vinalhaven Island, Maine
Every piece begins as sheets of colored glass and is carefully handcrafted in my studio on Vinalhaven Island, Maine. Because each firing produces its own unique interplay of color and light, no two pieces are exactly the same. The jewelry you receive will closely resemble the photographs shown while carrying its own distinctive character.
