private group workshops
Gather Your Group and Play with Color
Looking for a fun afternoon with friends and family? This summer, I'm offering private glass workshops for groups of 5 to 10 people in my studio on Vinalhaven.
You gather the group, we'll pick a day, and I'll take care of the rest.
Workshops run approximately two hours, typically from 4:30–6:30 PM, and each participant will create two colorful glass tiles using a wide assortment of glass colors and materials. No experience is necessary. If you can arrange colorful pieces on a table, you can do this.
The cost is $100 per person, and all materials are included. After the workshop, I'll fire your creations in the kiln and prepare them for pickup.
One of my favorite parts of teaching is seeing what happens when people are given permission to play. Every workshop is different, every project is unique, and there is always plenty of laughter along the way.
Curious what people have created? Take a look at the gallery of past participant work and start imagining what your group might make.

Intro to Fused Glass: Create Your Own Glass Tiles
In this introductory workshop, you’ll design and create your own fused glass tiles while learning the fundamentals of kiln-worked glass. The class is beginner-friendly and also well suited for returning participants who want time to play, explore new ideas, and work with glass again.
Working with sheets of colored glass, you’ll explore cutting, layering, composition, and how light moves through glass. Each participant will design two glass tiles, with time to play with color, pattern, and composition. After the workshop, I’ll fire the tiles in my kiln, and finished pieces will be ready for pickup within the week.
Each finished tile can be displayed on a shelf, windowsill, or tabletop using the clear acrylic plate stands included with the workshop, or given as a meaningful handmade gift.
What You’ll Learn
Each workshop introduces the art and science of fused glass in a way that’s easy, engaging, and rewarding. You’ll learn:
The basics of glass cutting and shaping
How to layer transparent and opaque glass to create depth and color effects
Design principles for composition, balance, and flow
How heat and time in the kiln transform your layered design into a single, fused piece
The beauty of experimenting—trusting your eye and intuition to guide your design
What You’ll Make
Two fused glass tiles, designed by you
Finished tiles will be ready for pickup within the week.
Perfect For first-time glass makers, returning workshop participants, color lovers, and anyone who enjoys learning something new and going home with a finished piece they can display or gift.
