Music arrived alongside a week filled with stories, songs, and the magic of how music can return us instantly to another moment in our lives. Shifting between deep blue, violet, and silver, this limited edition color carries the feeling of spring evenings on the Maine coast and the memories that rise up with them.
Music
The Story of the Color
Music is a color full of movement. Deep blue at first glance, then violet, and flashes of silver light appearing as the glass shifts in your hands. It changes with motion and atmosphere the way music changes depending on where you hear it, what season of life you are in, or which memories come rushing back the moment the first notes begin.
Working on this color, I kept thinking about the way music threads itself through our lives and quietly attaches itself to places, people, and moments we never forget. A song comes on and suddenly you are twenty again. Or driving with the windows down on the first warm evening of spring. Or standing somewhere you haven’t thought about in years, completely returned to that version of yourself for just a moment.
That feels very connected to what I hope jewelry can do too.
Not simply decorate us, but travel through the world with us. Become part of our stories. Catch someone’s eye and start a conversation. Hold memory. Mark a season. Carry a feeling forward.
The matte finish softens the surface of the glass into something atmospheric and layered, allowing the blues and violets to glow more quietly from within. It reminds me of evening on the island this time of year when the peepers begin singing from the marshes, ferry horns drift across the water, birds settle into the spruce trees, and everything feels alive again after winter.
Each piece in this limited color run is handmade in my Vinalhaven studio from fused dichroic glass selected specifically for this collection. Like a favorite song tied forever to a particular chapter of life, Music belongs to this moment in the season. Once the glass is gone, the color will be retired.
About the Jewelry
The Music color palette moves through smoky blue, violet, and silver tones with flashes of luminous blue appearing beneath the matte surface. The finish softens the shimmer and gives the jewelry a quieter glow, making these pieces easy to wear both casually and dressed up.
Music pairs beautifully with natural fibers and textured fabrics like linen, denim, wool, cotton, and soft knits, while also standing out against crisp black, charcoal, white, and deep navy. The color has enough depth to feel sophisticated with tailored clothing and enough softness to settle naturally into everyday wear.
I can picture it with a worn chambray shirt on a cool evening, layered over a black sweater at a concert, paired with a linen dress near the water, or worn with a favorite jacket heading out to dinner with friends. The blues and violets shift differently depending on what surrounds them, making the jewelry feel quietly alive throughout the day.
