The Story of the Color
Some colors simply make you smile, and Belfast Blue is one of them.
It reminds me of those perfect summer days when the harbor is impossibly blue, the streets are alive with people, and every corner seems to offer something worth stopping for. You wander around town, linger over lunch a little longer than you planned, and somehow the whole day unfolds at exactly the right pace.
That easy, joyful feeling is woven into this color. Layers of bright blue glass and shimmering dichroic create a color that shifts with every movement. Sometimes it glows like sunlight on the water. Sometimes it deepens into a rich sapphire that seems to hold the whole harbor inside it. It is playful, full of light, and impossible to ignore.
I created Belfast Blue to celebrate one of my favorite weekends of the year at Belfast Arts in the Park. Whether you've spent the day strolling the waterfront or simply want to carry a little piece of a Maine summer with you, I hope this color brings back the feeling of blue skies, salty air, and discovering something that makes you stop, smile, and say, "That's the one."
About the Jewelry
Every piece of Belfast Blue jewelry begins as layers of hand-cut fused dichroic glass in my Vinalhaven Island studio. After multiple kiln firings, each piece is carefully finished by hand, allowing the luminous blues to shift and sparkle as they catch the light. No two pieces are ever exactly alike, making each one uniquely yours.
Belfast Blue is one of those wonderfully versatile colors that you'll find yourself reaching for again and again. The bright blue pairs beautifully with crisp white linen, denim, soft grays, navy, and black, while adding an unexpected pop of color to neutral wardrobes.
